I'm back!

Oh, boy was I ever happy to see the cable guy today! We just got our cable and internet hooked up in the new house. It is funny how you become accustomed to always having the internet and then feel awkward when you do not. Anyway today was a crazy day. The cable guy had to go downstairs to run some wire up to my bedroom for the internet connection. When I showed him how to get to the basement, I discovered that the sewer had backed up into the basement! DISGUSTING! Luckily it had just happened and I am renting the house so it is not my bill. So, after the cable guy left, my handy husband came home closely followed by the guys from the city to check out the sewer. They said it was not there end, whatever that means, so we had to call a plumber. He used one of those power snakes to snake the drain. He then yelled at me through the door, "Hey, ma'am, would ya like to see the stuff that clogged the drain?" I very smartly replied, "how smelly and gross is it" BEFORE I looked into the bucket. The clog was thirty feet out from the house so I had envisioned this extra large, huge, gigantic, stinky...well you get it. Want to know what was clogging it? Tree roots! Meanwhile my husband was in the middle of replacing a leaky faucet in the kitchen when the power goes out halfway through the installation. The funny part of this, the only flashlights I could find, mind you we just moved in so the flashlights are in a box somewhere, were the Mooing Cow and Whinnying Horse Fisher Price flashlights. Every time he needed light we had to listen to the barnyard sounds. We laughed, which was good because the day was really crappy. Get it? Crappy! Oh, I almost forgot...I had started a lasagna in the oven, which we did not get to eat because the power went out halfway through its cooking time. So we went out to eat, which was not as good as the lasagna. The funny thing is that this new house has an ancient old oven that rocks! It is small, but man does that thing heat nicely! When we got back home, the lasagna was cooked and the oven was still hot! The power came back on around 10 pm, pretty much right after we got home from dinner and driving around, so I immediately came to the computer and my husband went to the couch to watch something in cable. I think he deserves it after having to listen to me laugh while holding a flashlight. He kept getting dripped on by the faucet and did not exactly fit under the sink...small cupboards. The whole thing will be MUCH funnier tomorrow for him. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some art news or something to report. I have some placemats and napkins to finish for the BTRS Sewing Swap (see the sidebar) and I have to get my rear in gear making some fabric swatches for the swatch swap. YIPPEE!!!!
